OPERATIONALHISTORY
For several decades, the Hackmeyer family grew their bagged flour distribution routes and bakery ingredients network through informal partnerships and sole proprietorships before officially incorporating their primary businesses in 1948 and 1969.
Louis Hackmeyer and his family established N.Y. Flour Distributors, Inc.
Louis Hackmeyer, Inc. was established, quickly growing into a major supplier for regional and national bakery accounts throughout the NY metro area. The Hackmeyer family held longstanding leadership within the National Association of Flour Distributors (NAFD), with Philip John Hackmeyer serving as a prominent figure representing flour distributors across the United States.
The Hackmeyer businesses were sold to the Alcalay brothers, who were established customers and experienced industry professionals.
Focus shifted to bulk (non-packaged) flour and bakery supplies delivered by the truckload. Baystate Milling Co. acquired all bagged distribution rights and inventory to rebuild its customer base following a fire that destroyed their Clifton, NJ facility.
New England Flour Corp was created to serve the greater New England region with expanded ingredient offerings.
US Flour Corp was established to replace New York Bulk Flour, Inc. and other regional entities as the business expanded across the entire East Coast and into Canada.
Pursuing vertical integration, US Flour added raw grain and byproducts — including feed and bran — to lower costs, improve efficiency, and secure supply. Organic derivatives of core products were introduced as well.
Agridient Inc., a North American subsidiary of a multinational group supplying starches and proteins to food, pet, and feed manufacturers, was acquired — expanding US Flour's national presence, product range, and distribution reach through an established global network.
US Flour Corp is a leading, family-owned supplier of bakery ingredients in both bulk and bagged formats, serving some of the largest producers in the food, nutraceutical, feed, and pet food industries. Spanning three complementary businesses, the companies move over 1 billion pounds of product annually through an extensive network of partnerships across the global food supply chain.
